How the School Can Help A Child Who Has Lost A Parent
Through Death or Divorce
Loss of a parent can be emotionally upsetting to a child and can interfere with school adjustment and performance. Dr. Benjamin Garber, Director of the Barr-Harris Children's Grief Center, has written two ten-page papers on how school staff can help the child who has lost a parent. One paper is on loss of a parent through death, the other is on loss of a parent through divorce. These papers are available to professionals only. The cost is $5.00 for each, which includes postage and handling.
